RV Satellite Internet – Stay Connected While You Travel

There is nothing to compare to hitting the open road and seeing the country in the comfort of your own RV. The only thing missing is the internet. Now travel has become even better with the advent of RV satellite internet service.

For most of us, going online is just something we do everyday. Whether it’s to pay a bill or check our bank balance, go to our Facebook account, or just send and receive email, it’s hard to do without internet access for even a short period of time.

In the past when traveling in our motorhomes, we had to stop at WiFi hotspots or stay at campgrounds that provided internet access. Fortunately RV satellite internet service has changed all that.

When you have a satellite internet service you will be able to stay connected no matter where you are. There are two basic models. One has the satellite dish permanently mounted to the roof of your motorhome, trailer or fifth wheel. The other is a portable type unit. In either case, you will have fast internet whenever you are stopped.

The satellite unit uses GPS technology to find and lock onto the signal from the satellite. By doing this, you then get your high speed internet connection.

You have a choice of two types of satellite units. These are the automatic roof-mounted units or units that are manually mounted on tripods.

The roof mounted unit retracts automatically whenever the RV is in motion in order to avoid wind damage while traveling. But you can also manually activate the stow button if you want to retract the unit at any time while parked.

If you check into these units you will find that manual tripod mounted units are much more inexpensive than the automatic units. The cost of the roof mounted automatic system is more because of the technology needed for deploying the system.

Tripod units need to be put together before use and then taken apart before you travel. These units are a good size so be sure to find a storage area that will be large enough but easily accessible.

You probably won’t want to take the time to assemble the unit during a short stop because of the time involved. It’s better suited for use once you are stopped for the day and setting up in your spot.

One area where a tripod unit really shines is with its flexibility. For RV satellite internet to work you need a clear, unobstructed view of the southern sky. It’s a whole lot easier to move a tripod to get this unobstructed view than it is to try to maneuver your RV to a new position.

With an RV satellite internet service, you can stay connected while you travel. What could be better? All the conveniences of home including high speed internet.
